Day 20: Bisti Badlands

After shopping some dino-bones, megalodon-teeth etc. in Moab, we started the long drive south to the Bisti Badlands in New Mexico. Well, after several hours we arrived, packed our rucksacks and marched right into the Bistis. (More info: http://www.synnatschke.de/bisti/bisti.html )

Just the shape of those splinters makes it clear that this wood, doesn't it? Sometimes we found wood that looked so real that we actually had to touch it and check it's weight to be sure that it's petrified and not "real"!

In the evening we met a couple ( http://www.photonook.net ) from the netherlands at the place we had parked the car. We spent the night in the car, and this was the only time we really had to completely close the sleeping-bags, for it was very cold.
