Day 8: Around Page (Sidestep Canyon, Yellow Rock)
This was one of the greatest days of our trip -- you can see that by the number of photos that have been selected. :) The first goal was the Sidestep Canyon ( http://www.synnatschke.de/ssc/ssc.html ). I was totally stunned by all those shapes, colors and the diversity of all those games the erosion plays. :) The only problem was that it was very hot, on some of the photos you will see Tsuki sitting in the shade doing nothing. :)
The guy below is a collared lizard, I think. Very cool creature, with its long toes! In the 4th photo you can see that it was actually quite small - but nonetheless beautiful! Tsuki discovered the beast, and we were moving extra-silent and extra-slow to change the camera's lens in order to get some close-up-shots. The animal was quite cooperative!
On our way back, we almost ran over another lizard that enjoyed the sun in the middle of the dirt road. After taking some more shots, I actually had to scare it away to safe it's little life. But it came back again to the same spot. I scared it away again, and we continued to drive to Page to get something decent to eat (which was usually difficult).
In the afternoon, after finding a Geo-Cache, we headed for Yellow Rock ( http://www.synnatschke.de/gast/peter/yr/yr.html ). The road was in bad condition and it was getting late, I was afraid to miss the sunset. But the timing turned out to be just great! Most of the time I could not really believe my eyes and I guess was smiling stupidly all the time. In fact I love some of the photos so much that I ordered a new TV a couple of minutes ago, so we can enjoy the memories and photos of our trip in high-resolution (Full HD, 46", Plasma) from our sofa. :)
