2007-11-28: Motueka - Motueka
On the evening of the day before, we met our second "cave-contact" that we made using e-mail before our departure. Altough Mike had little time because he just won a world-championship, he kindly offered to show us the entrance to a cave:
Suddenly entering this huge chamber was terrific, after moving through rather small passages for some time. You can't really tell it's size from the photo, and our lights were of course note suitable to illuminate it good enough for decent photos...
This thing was wunderful: Huge, and quite active with water flowing constantly. The next two phots are close-up-shots of the same object, taken from the reddish area on the right of this photo (our cave-bag).
Thanks again, Mike and Britta! This was really one of the most impressive caves we have ever visited, and just remembering it makes me want to come back to New Zealand to participate on a multi-day-prospection or something like that. :)
